Tom Fruin | Kolonihavehus - Outdoor Sculpture

Tom Fruin , a New York based artist has created an outdoor sculpture, Kolonihavehus, in the plaza of the Royal Danish Library in Copenhagen which appears to be a friendly and colorful stained-glass house.

The sculpture is constructed of a thousand reclaimed pieces of Plexiglas ranging in size from 2x2 to 24x36 inches. They originate from a lot of different sources including dumpsters outside the Danish Architecture Center, a closed-down plexi distributor near Copenhagen, a framing shop, and the basement of the Danish State Art Workshops.

The sculpture was brought to life by daily performances by Copenhagen-based CoreAct. The performances included poetry by Vagn Steen, computer-controlled light sequences by Nuno Neto and a sound installation by Astrid Lomholt.
